Transition‐Metal‐Free Borylation of Allylic and Propargylic Alcohols
The base-catalyzed allylic borylation of tertiary allylic alcohols allows the synthesis of 1,1-disubstituted allyl boronates, in moderate to high yield. The unexpected tandem performance of the Lewis acid-base adduct, [Hbase](+) [MeO-B2 pin2 ](-) favored the formation of 1,2,3-triborylated species from the tertiary allylic alcohols and 1-propargylic cyclohexanol at 90 °C.
متن کاملMechanistic Studies of Laccase/TEMPO Catalyzed Aerobic Oxidation of Alcohols
The reaction parameters for the Laccase/TEMPO system in the aerobic oxidation of aromatic alcohols were investigated. The optimized concentrations of laccase and alcohol were found to be 10 U/ml and 160 mM respectively. Under these conditions the use of 9 mol % TEMPO led to good conversions within 4 h. The optimum temperature for the reaction was found to be above room temperature (around 30°C).
متن کاملTransition metal-free oxidative esterification of benzylic alcohols in aqueous medium.
Oxidative esterification of benzylic alcohols with a catalytic amount of HBr-H2O2 in aqueous medium under mild conditions is reported with a wide range of substrate scope for both benzylic and aliphatic alcohols. The conditions are also suitable for selective mono-esterification of ethylene glycol and glycerol. With catalytic amounts of HBr (20 mol%) and H2O2, the generation of reactive interme...
متن کاملIron-catalyzed carbometalation of propargylic and homopropargylic alcohols.
Nucleophilic addition to alkynes represents an attractive approach to the synthesis of olefins. Obstacles to this strategy include the low reactivity of alkynes toward many organometallic reagents and difficulties associated with controlling the regioselectivity of addition. Here we demonstrate that Fe(III) salts are effective precatalysts for the carbometalation of alkynes. Primary and seconda...
متن کاملCopper-Catalyzed Oxidation of Alcohols to Aldehydes and Ketones: An Efficient, Aerobic Alternative
An efficient, copper-based catalyst has been discovered that oxidizes a wide range of alcohols into aldehydes and ketones under mild conditions. This catalytic system utilizes oxygen or air as the ultimate, stoichiometric oxidant, producing water as the only by-product.
